San Francisco 49ers (+1.5) over NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

New England’s loss to the Broncos at Gillette might be taken as merely a quirk. Two straight defeats at home might constitute a trend. Cam Newton just might not be up to taking out some of the tougher foes on Pats’ remaining schedule — including this unit. The Niners are laboring under the Super Bowl-loser hangover, but if Jimmy Garoppolo can stay healthy, the visitors should be a very tough out. Niners strike gold.
