Ten years ago, on July 30, 2012, the first volume of Kugane Maruyama’s Overlord dark fantasy light novel series was published from KADOKAWA/Enterbrain in Japan. The author has posted a message on the anime’s official Twitter account thanking for the novel’s tenth anniversary. The main novel series has released 16 volumes so far and its total print run has reached 11 million copies. The much-awaited fourth season of the TV anime has been simulcast on Crunchyroll since July 5, 2022.

Message from Kugane Maruyama:

I’m Maruyama, who is always checking in Akihabara to see if anyone is really buying on the release day. Good evening, or hello. Unfortunately, I have not been able to visit Akihabara yet due to the Corona disaster.

Ten years ago today was the first day I went to check out a bookstore in Akihabara on my way home from work, and it all seems to have happened so fast.

So, the tenth anniversary! Thank you to everyone who has followed me this far! I will continue to do my best to deliver even better things in the future!

July 30, 2022 – Kugane Maruyama

I wish Satoshi Hino-san a speedy recovery.

As Maruyama mentions, Satoshi Hino, who has voiced the protagonist Ainz Ooal Gown since the TV anime first season in July 2015, was tested positive for COVID-19 on July 30, then was forced to miss a public recording of a special program for the anime’s tenth anniversary in which he was scheduled to appear.

According to the Twitter posts by his agency AXL-ONE and himself, Hino felt ill with fever on July 29, so he underwent a PCR test on the following day, which was confirmed positive. He has had little coughing, and his symptoms have been relatively calm. He is now under the guidance of the health and medical authorities for recuperation.
