More than 98,000 people were still without power in New York City Wednesday morning — a day after Tropical Storm Isaias ripped through the region, and knocked out juice to the second-highest number of Con Ed customers in the company’s history.

Con Edison tallied 5,240 outages affecting 98,215 customers in the five boroughs as of around 8:30 a.m.

Queens is the most heavily affected, with 46,528 people still without power early Wednesday. The Bronx comes in second, with 22,409, followed by Staten Island, where outages have affected 20,974 people.

A total of 8,236 people are without power in Brooklyn, and only 68 in Manhattan, Con Ed numbers show.

In Westchester County, 5,019 outages affecting 94,827 customers were reported early Wednesday.

Wednesday morning, all 911 phone lines were down in Orange County, according to a tweet by Mount Hope Police.

Late Tuesday, Con Ed reported that a total of 257,000 customers were out of power, second only to Hurricane Sandy and a subsequent nor’easter that caused 1.1 million outages in October 2012.

The destruction surpassed that of Hurricane Irene, which left 204,000 without power in August 2011.

Con Ed brought in 220 additional line workers to restore service Tuesday, and has another 100 slated to begin work Wednesday, according to a company release.

The company also said it is bringing in more than 500 additional personnel to help replace poles, wires, transformers and other equipment.

Across New Jersey, nearly 1 million homes and businesses in New Jersey were still out of power as of early Wednesday, NJ.com reported.

“Some of these outages may last for a few days due to the severity of the storm,” Gov. Phil Murphy tweeted Tuesday afternoon. “We are working closely with the utilities to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.”
