#Our opinion on “Date A Bullet”

Last Sunday, the two-part OVA “Date A Bullet” was shown in selected cinemas across Germany. We were back in the game and watched the spin-off for “Date A Live” …

This is what “Date A Bullet” is about

After her death, Kurumi Tokisaki wakes up in a side world that is unknown to her and meets the lively Hibiki Higoromo there. The two and six other girls are forced to take part in a battle royale, the winner of which is granted a wish. Also part of the party is the mysterious white queen, also called Queen, who not only looks very similar to Kurumi, but also seems strangely familiar …

Missed the cinema screening? The spin-off will also be released on DVD and Blu-ray on November 26th and can already be pre-ordered.

Our opinion on “Date A Bullet”

“Date A Bullet” is a self-contained storyline that is based on a situation within the anime series. Even if it is not relevant to the action, it still helps to classify the situation in question and is certainly interesting for every “Date A Live” viewer. In the OVA, everything revolves around Kurumi.

Since I canceled the “Date A Live” series during the second season because the interest was simply lost, I approached the matter with very low expectations and was positively surprised.

“Date A Bullet” is a thoroughly exciting Battle Royal scenario in which interesting ghosts and half-ghosts meet. The already very action-heavy spectacle offers not only fights that are nice to watch but also an emotional story that I did not expect and that also relates directly to the anime series. In fact, ecchi elements were almost completely dispensed with, but that didn’t detract from the story and should even be positively emphasized at this point, because it allowed you to experience stringently 60 minutes of exciting fights with a good background story.

“Date A Bullet” is therefore a clear tip for all “Date A Live” fans. Viewers who have had nothing to do with the series so far will not be able to gain anything from this two-part OVA on their own.
