#OSHI NO KO Collaboration Baking Soda Reveals Packaging Design, Release Date

The previously announced collaboration baking soda between the OSHI NO KO anime and Kaneyo Soap’s Baking Soda-chan has revealed the product’s bottle design and an early-July release date.

The product’s announcement was preceded by an April Fools’ joke which saw the character Kana Arima making headlines for becoming a promotional model for baking soda. Prior to that, Japanese fans of the manga had given Kana the nickname of “Baking Soda-chan,” thanks to a gag where Ruby Hoshino calls her “The Genius Child Actor Who Licks Baking Soda” instead of “The Genius Child Actor Who Can Cry on the Spot.”

OSHI NO KO premiered on April 12 and is streamed by HIDIVE and Bilibili outside of Japan. It is based on the Shueisha-published manga written by Aka Akasaka and drawn by Mengo Yokoyari, which began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2020 and has 10 tankoubon volumes as of January 2023.

Yen Press describes the manga as:

Gorou is a gynecologist and idol fan who’s in shock after his favorite star, Ai, announces an impromptu hiatus. Little does Gorou realize that he’s about to forge a bond with her that defies all common sense! Lies are an idol’s greatest weapon in this outrageous manga from Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish).
