#One man dead, 3 wounded in shooting at NYC ‘gambling den’

One man was killed and three others wounded in a shooting inside a Brooklyn building that’s known as a local gambling den, police sources and neighbors said.

The gunfire rang out just after 10 p.m. during a large fight in the first-floor back room of a decrepit brick building on Hegeman Avenue near Osborn Street in Brownsville, police and sources said.

A man in his 30s who was shot in the chest died, police said.

Three other men struck by bullets, ages 31, 32 and 44, were hospitalized in stable condition, authorities said.

Investigators believe the shooting was sparked over gambling, police sources said.

A 50-year-old local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said the location is a well-known spot for neighborhood gamblers.

“They always gambling inside,” said the man, who also identified himself as a gambler. “Day and night, they be gambling — dice, they play poker and the Cee-lo.”

“Friday and Saturday night you can’t even walk inside it’s so crowded,” he said.

The man added that the stakes inside the hangout range from as low to a few bucks to thousands of dollars.

No arrests were made as of early Thursday and police said they didn’t immediately have any suspects in the shooting.
