#Olympian Brittney Reese says she’d be ‘Usain Bolt of long jump’ after taking silver

After settling for silver in the 2020 Olympics, Brittney Reese claimed that she’s the best long jumper of all time — and still isn’t getting recognition.

“It just sucks that, you know, if I was on the track side of the sport, I’d be the Usain Bolt of long jump,” Reese said. “But just being on the field-event side, it just doesn’t get that attention that it deserves.”

The 34-year-old competed in her final Olympics on Tuesday and has 11 total medals with a long jumping career tracing back to her high school in Mississippi. Reese jumped 22 feet, 7 inches and was beaten by Germany’s Malaika Mihambo by less than two inches. Reese lost on a decisive sixth jump — the place where she normally comes in clutch.

“I’m used to beating people on the sixth jump,” she said. “… It’s kind of funny to end my career that way.”
