The Los Angeles Rams christened their new $5 billion SoFi Stadium without fans in attendance, holding on for a 20-17 victory Sunday night over the Dallas Cowboys.

New coach Mike McCarthy had the Dallas offense eschew a potential game-tying 28-yard field goal attempt to go for a 4th-and-3 from the Rams’ 11-yard line with 11:46 remaining, but Dak Prescott’s completed pass to rookie CeeDee Lamb was stopped a yard shy of the first down marker on a tackle by safety Jordan Fuller.

A long completion from Prescott to Michael Gallup that would have put the Cowboys back in field-goal range with less than a minute remaining was negated on a questionable offensive pass interference call on Gallup.

Malcom Brown ran for 79 yards and two scores and Sam Sloman connected on two field goals for Los Angeles.
