#Toxic toads come out in the Arizona monsoon

Arizona is battling a barrage of toxic toads this summer.

The Sonoran Desert toad is popping up after the summer monsoon season and causing mayhem.

The largest native toad in the United States, which usually hides underground, reemerges each summer seeking extra moisture brought to the region by monsoon season, according to AZ Family notes. The huge amphibian produces a toxin dangerous to humans and pets if inhaled or eaten.

“Leave these toads alone and be sure to keep your dogs away from them,” Maureen Roland, managing director of the Banner Poison Center told the site.
