Cops on Sunday released harrowing surveillance video of a July 4 Brooklyn shooting in an attempt to crack the case.

The clip opens with the unsuspecting 21-year-old victim chatting with a friend of his on Sheffield Avenue near Hegeman Avenue in East New York around 2:55 a.m. on Independence Day.

The gunman strolls up behind the man until he is within less than a yard, pulls a pistol and opens fire, the video shows.

The victim was struck once in the back and once in the left shoulder, but survived the attack, officials said.

The shooter, described as about 22-years-old, was last seen wearing a light-colored long-sleeve shirt, light-colored pants and a fishing hat, according to cops.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.

The victim was one of 49 people wounded or killed by gunfire over a bloody holiday weekend in the city.

The attack was also one of the more-than 777 shooting incidents tallied in the city this year as of late Saturday — surpassing the 776 recorded in all of 2019.
