#NYPD reassigns hundreds of cops to ‘Summer All Out’ program

The NYPD is going all out in its Summer All Out program, ordering about 350 cops – including from the Internal Affairs Bureau and other specialty units – to flood the streets in efforts to prevent a rise in crime and violence.

A memo issued Monday from the Personnel Orders Division to the various commands includes a lengthy list of Finest who will be temporarily assigned to the 2020 Summer All Out initiative.

The reassignments take effect Tuesday and will remain in place until Sept. 9.

“Upon expiration, members must return to their permanent commands, unless extension is approved by the police commissioner,” the memo concludes.

The directive comes as the NYPD’s policing has come under scrutiny since the fatal May 25 arrest of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

On Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo assailed the NYPD’s leadership for failing to prevent looting and rioting during an early night of protests over Floyd’s death.

Police Commissioner Dermot Shea on Monday backed Mayor Bill de Blasio’s vow to shift funding from the department to youth groups, but police sources have panned the plan.

Both Hizzoner and Shea also shot down rumors that the commissioner and Chief of Department Terence Monahan were heading for the exits.
