NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said Tuesday he was “disappointed” that Sergeants Benevolent Association president Ed Mullins called City Councilman Ritchie Torres a “first-class whore” last week.

Mullins fired off the scathing tweet Friday afternoon after the lawmaker called for an investigation into a possible NYPD slowdown.

“He[sic] we go America this is what a first class whore looks like RITCHIE TORRES,” he wrote. “Passes laws to defund police, supports criminals, & now because he’s running for office he blames the police to protect what he voted for. Remember Little Ritchie? Meet LYING RITCHIE.”

The tweet has since been deleted.

Torres fired back at the SBA, calling it “a bona fide hate group masquerading as a union.”

“The racism, misogyny, and homophobia of Ed Mullins gives [President Trump] a run for his money,” he wrote online.

Torres has publicly called for Mullins’ resignation. When Shea was questioned about his thoughts on that call on 1010 WINS on Tuesday morning, he kept relatively mum but said he wasn’t happy with the union head’s choice of words.

“What I’ll say is, and I don’t want to say too much right now — I’m disappointed,” the top cop said. “I don’t think anyone should be using language of that type, whether it’s at a press conference, whether it’s — quite frankly — in person or whether it’s on social media.”

“I think we’re better than that,” he added. “I think all sides can do a lot better than that and it’s not going to get us where [we need] to go.”

Torres, a Democratic candidate to replace retiring Rep. José Serrano in New York’s 15th Congressional District, and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams have called for an investigation into the potential police slowdown amid 14 straight weeks of surging gun violence.

Shea told 1010 WINS he would “welcome” such a probe, adding, “Let’s see where that leads.”

As he has done in the past, the commissioner blamed cuts to the NYPD’s budget for the rising shooting numbers.

“It’s politics,” Shea said. “You cut the budget, you take all the cops off the street and then you wonder why it takes longer for cops to get to jobs? I mean, New Yorkers are a lot of things, but they’re not dumb, and New Yorkers know exactly what is going on.”
