A 96-year-old man in a wheelchair was shot in the leg in broad daylight — by a robber aiming at a woman outside a Brooklyn public housing development on Monday, police and sources said.

The gunman grabbed the woman’s coat and some cash and opened fire when she started running away from him at around 9:30 a.m. near the Kingsborough Houses in Crown Heights, according to cops.

The bullet instead struck the nonagenarian, who was sitting in his motorized wheelchair while waiting for a bus at Bergen Street and Rochester Avenue, police sources said.

“A gunman goes to rob a female, the female starts running away,” a police source said. “The gunman fires one shot in her direction and strikes the man in the wheelchair.”

The elderly man, identified by family as Sandy Dewalt, was hit in the shin and taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition, cops said. The woman who was robbed was not physically injured.

“He’s in the hospital; he’s doing pretty well,” said Sandy’s wife Eva Dewalt. “He’ll be home soon.”

Stanley Jenkins, 62, a family friend, said the older man stayed “cool” in the aftermath of the shooting.

“When I went out to get my car, I saw him sitting there next to a cop with tissues on him,” Jenkins said.

“He was cool — no pain or nothing. He was calm.”

Jenkins added that the bullet went “in and out” and noted, “it wasn’t a big flesh wound.”

His buddy is known for collecting cans in the area, Jenkins added.

He’s been doing it for a while. He can move — he has a walker too — 96 and gets around. He’s a good person — he doesn’t mess around with no one.”

The shooter took off on foot. He was described as wearing all black and having a ponytail, cops said.
