“#NYC 16-year-old killed in Lower East Side shooting”
A 16-year-old boy was killed and a man was injured in a shooting on the Lower East Side Friday night, cops and police sources said.
The victims were with a large group of people standing at the corner of Delancey Street and Suffolk Street at around 8:30 p.m. when a gunman approached and opened fire, the sources said.
The teen was struck in the face and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and sources.
“They killed my nephew. They killed my nephew,” a man pacing near the crime scene was heard saying later Friday.
The other victim, a 24-year-old man, was hit in once in his right thigh and taken to Mount Sinai Beth Israel by friends, sources said. He was expected to recover.

Residents and workers in the area reported hearing several gunshots.
“All I heard was shots,” said an employee of a smoke shop across the street from the scene. “I was in the basement and I heard pop, pop, pop.”
“I saw them across the street when they were pumping the body…he looked lifeless.”
A resident, who only gave her first name, Evelyn, said she saw a mad dash of people running when the gunfire rang out.
“[There were] lots of people running. Everyone was trying to get out of there,” she said.
“When the kid went down, they knew he was dead.”

No arrests were made as of late Friday.
Sources said at least five .40 caliber shell casings were recovered from the scene. Officers were canvassing the area for security footage.
