#NVIDIA Says You Shouldn’t Expect to Buy A Video Card Anytime Soon – Review Geek

If you’ve clicked on this article, you’re likely already aware of the long-running GPU shortage. If you’re like us, you’re crossing your fingers that it’ll end so you can finally get an RTX 3080. But according to NVIDIA, that likely won’t be the case any time soon.

NVIDIA gave a similar warning earlier this year for 2021 and has been dealing with product delays due to shortages since last year. In the company’s recent Q2 fiscal earnings call, CEO Jenson Huang discussed his expectations for the likely continued supply shortage for the next year.

“I would expect that we will see a supply-constrained environment for the vast majority of the next year is my guess at the moment,” Huang said, according to a transcript of the call. The company is still committed to securing long-term supply, however, in the face of record-high demand and the global material shortage.

Despite these shortages, NVIDIA still hit record profits this past quarter—$6.51 billion. That’s up 68 percent year-over-year. Naturally, gaming accounted for nearly half of the overall revenue, just over $3 billion. The company also enabling Lite Hash Rate for 80 percent of the PC gaming GPUs it’s shipping, as a means to mitigate cryptomining demand (and ensure gamers are the ones getting the GPUs).
