Quentin Tarantino is well-known for his various Academy Award nominations. In the recent interview with the Spanish publication Diari ARA (via Variety), he talked about some of the “low moments” in his career. He said that his movie Death Proof, which was released back in 2007 and featured Kurt Russell as a stuntman/killer, was considered one of his worst films. Furthermore, since fans weren’t thrilled with its opening weekend and it ultimately became a bomb. He admitting that Death Proof‘s box office failure was a “shock” to his confidence but he got over those moments and returned with a bang.

Although he is a superb director, there is one thing one will not see in his films: sex. The director stated his distaste for incorporating these raunchy scenes in his movies, claiming that they are not an important part of his narrative.

In the same interview, Tarantino also discussed why he doesn’t prioritize sex scenes in his films. He said that shooting them is a “pain,” which is why they are not a part of his “vision of cinema.”

According to him, filming sex scenes is a nightmare. “And the truth is that, in real life, it’s a pain to shoot sex scenes, everyone is very tense.” Further, he stated that the current situation in which intimacy coordinators are used has only served to confuse matters.

“If there had ever been a sex scene that was essential to the story, I would have, but so far it hasn’t been necessary,” he added.

Tarantino stated in the same interview that his upcoming film, The Movie Critic, will be his 10th and final. The story is said to be set in 1970s Los Angeles, with a female lead.

“I have been lucky enough to write stories that have connected with many people, and this has allowed me to practice my art without the restrictions that most filmmakers have”, he concluded.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Movie Critic will center around prominent film critic Pauline Kael. Tarantino also explained that it takes place in 1970s. He recalled that he was already running around the world in 1970s, but its not about his life, though. He is not the protagonist, but he still remembers how things were back then and can now write from that perspective.
