#No Way Home Is Officially Rated PG-13

Set to arrive in movie theaters this month, Spider-Man: No Way Home has gotten its official rating. The anticipated feature is rated PG-13 for sequences of action/violence, some language, and brief suggestive comments. Of course, it’s not like this rating is a surprise, as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man always seems to get the job done without the need for excessive violence and foul language, but now it’s been made official.

Regardless of the rating, we’re expecting Spider-Man: No Way Home to be a tremendous hit in theaters when it’s released in just over two weeks from now. Ever since the start of production with accompanying rumors of different Spider-Man actors from years past joining the fray, No Way Home has served as one of the most anticipated movies of all time. Presales for tickets were just launched, and Fandango is seeing its highest numbers since Avengers: Endgame. The pandemic has certainly affected filmgoing in the time since, but people are going to be turning out in droves to see this movie.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Spider-Man: No Way Home is being treated as the third installment of a trilogy, and it’s obvious that Marvel and Sony are looking to cap off this story with a bang. That doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing more of Tom Holland as Peter Parker. Producer Amy Pascal recently stated that a new trilogy of Spider-Man movies was in the planning stages, and Holland has also teased an “incredibly bright future” for the web-slinger. When he eventually ends his run as Spidey, perhaps after this next planned trilogy, his idea is also for a live-action Miles Morales to step in as the new Spider-Man of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Before any of that happens, we’re going to see Holland’s Peter duking it out with some of the greatest supervillains featured in different continuities. Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman, and Jamie Foxx’s Electro are just a handful of the supervillains we’ll be seeing coming into the movie once the multiverse is fractured. Everyone knows that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are rumored to appear as well, but Sony and Marvel have not shown the actors in any official photos or video footage o fthe sequel. There’s speculation that they may not even show up at all, as Garfield has been constantly denying rumors of his involvement. It still seems more likely than not that they will.

Jon Watts directs Spider-Man: No Way Home using a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. It stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker with other returning stars including Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Along with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, there are lots of rumors about who else could appear in the movie, with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock as one possibility. Benedict Cumberbatch is also featured as Doctor Strange, and it’s his relationship with Peter that leads to a fractured multiverse after an attempt to alter the past.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released in theaters on Dec. 17, 2021.
