#Trevor Lawrence to miss Clemson vs. Notre Dame due to coronavirus

Clemson is going to have to survive a little longer without Trevor Lawrence.

Tigers coach Dabo Swinney announced after his team rallied to be Boston College 34-28 on Saturday minus the Heisman Trophy candidate that Lawrence — who tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday — will not be available for No. 1 ranked Clemson’s game against No. 4 Notre Dame next week.

The ACC requires 10 days of isolation and medical testing post-isolation after a player tests positive. Lawrence described his symptoms as “relatively mild” earlier this week. Swinney said prior to the game that Lawrence, who spoke to the team via Zoom, was in good spirits and doing well. The junior is among national leaders in passing yards (1,833), touchdowns (17), completion percentage (70.7), and QB rating (178.6).

Minus Lawrence on Saturday, Clemson (7-0) rallied from an 18-point deficit in the second quarter behind backup quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei and senior running back Travis Etienne. The freshman signal-caller completed 30 of 41 passes for 342 yards and two touchdowns. Etienne carried the ball 20 times for 84 yards and a score and caught seven passes for 140 yards and a touchdown.
