#Texas college student vanishes on his way home for Christmas

A Texas college student has been missing for more than a week after his car crashed in a remote backroad on his way home for Christmas, authorities said.

Texas State University student Jason Landry, 21, had been heading home to Missouri City when his abandoned car was found wrecked outside of Luling on Dec. 14, Texas EquuSearch said.

Though there was no sign of the student, his phone, wallet and other personal belongings were found at the scene, Fox4 News reported.

They also found a small amount of blood near the scene.

Over the course of nine days, rescue crews canvassed more than 20,000 acres using “every possible means to search,” Caldwell County Sheriff Daniel Law told news station KXAN.

But on Wednesday, authorities called off the search.

“We will not speculate on what may have happened to Jason, but we feel the vast area surrounding the accident scene has been thoroughly searched … and Jason still hasn’t been found,” authorities said in a statement.

“As a result, Texas EquuSearch is suspending our search operations for Jason until law enforcement investigators obtain credible and sufficient information that would lead our team into a more specific area to search.”
