#Newly engaged woman told to ‘shut the f–k up’ by NYC

Like anyone newly betrothed, Bailey Kenworthy wanted to shout her news from the rooftops of New York City.

Her mistake was thinking New York City would give a crap.

“I’m engaged, New York!” Texan Bailey Kenworthy, 24, shouted out an apartment window, unable to contain her joy in a TikTok posted last week.

The response? Downright aggressive indifference.

“Shut the f–k up!” a cyclist can be heard yelling below.

“I love it here,” she joked to the camera.

The video — captioned “The nicest city” — has amassed 2.1 million views and more than 313,000 likes.

“I love that my video is blowing up,” Kenworthy, who works as a patient service specialist for the University of Texas Medical Branch’s COVID Urgent Care, told The Post. “I enjoy when others laugh at my jokes.”

“That translates to congrats sis,” the official Duolingo account commented, referencing the tough love of New York.

“That’s a New Yorker’s way of saying congratulations,” joked another.

Kenworthy and her fiancée, Miguel, 28, were just visiting Manhattan when they took a trip to the DUMBO pier, where he proposed.

“He played it off by putting our camera on a bench and was like, ‘Let’s record ourselves posing,’” she said. “As we’re posing, he then did it.”

She shared a celebratory snap on Instagram with the caption, “Best. Day. Ever. #engagedaf.”

(And yes, she’s wearing a “salt crew” hat, she said, because Miguel caught her by complete surprise.)

While the engagement is still new, the duo already have plans for a wedding, potentially in November 2023, COVID permitting.

Other commenters were quick to make the connection to the show “Friends,” when Monica Geller shouts from her balcony, “I’m engaged! I’m engaged!”

“Ok Monica,” wrote someone else.

“This is giving Monica vibes,” said another.

Despite the comparisons between the iconic television show scene and Kenworthy’s post, she said the idea was “100% original.”

“‘Friends’ is hilarious,” she said. “I just love it here, [it] was my whole vibe the entire week we spent in NYC, no matter how non-friendly anyone acted.”
