Sonos is increasing prices for many of its speakers to cope with the global semiconductor shortage. Some speakers are going up by just $10 or $20, while products like the Arc soundbar face a $100 price hike. The price increases into effect on September 12th.

Despite the bad news, Sonos is selling more speakers than ever before. The company saw 33% growth in the first half of 2021, according to a recent earnings call. But like many companies, Sonos responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by buckling down and ordering fewer components than usual. Sonos expected a decrease in sales, and now it’s stuck fighting to keep up with increased demand. (Chip manufacturers are at full capacity due to increased demand in all sectors, so Sonos can’t just “order more chips.”)

Alright, that’s enough deliberation. Here are all the new prices for Sonos’ speakers, plus the amount that they’ve increased:

  • Roam: $180 ($10 price increase)
  • One: $220 ($20 price increase)
  • One SL: $200 ($20 price increase)
  • Five: $550 ($50 price increase)
  • Sub: $750 ($50 price increase)
  • Amp: $700 ($50 price increase)
  • Arc: $900 ($100 price increase)

Keep in mind that some products, like the Sonos Boost and Move, are not facing a price hike.

It’s a shame to see small products like the Sonos One face a 10% price increase, as they’re some of the only speakers in Sonos’ lineup that aren’t prohibitively expensive. We expect this price increase to be permanent, though anything is possible.
