“#1990's Sci-Fi TV Drama NIGHT HEAD Revives as TV Anime NIGHT HEAD 2041 in July 2021”

NIGHT HEAD was a sci-fi live-action TV drama aired for 21 episodes in Japan from 1992 to 1993. Its mysterious and shocking storyline attracted a huge cult following at the time. It will return as NIGHT HEAD 2041, a new TV anime series based on a script by the drama's original creator George Iida, in Fuji TV's ＋Ultra programming block in July 2021.

In the story, NIGHT HEAD refers to the 70 percent of the brain that is believed to be unused by humans. The mysterious "power" that humans possess is said to be hidden in this 70 percent of the brain. The TV drama centers on two brothers – Naoto Kirihara, who has aggressive psychic powers such as psychokinesis, and Naoya Kirihara, Naoto's younger brother who has reading, healing, and precognition powers.

In addition to the Kirihara brothers who appeared in the original TV drama, the anime will add another two brothers – Takuya and Yuuya Kuroki, who hunt down the psychics as The National Guard Unit.

Takamitsu Hirakawa (Etotama CG director) is attached to direct on an original script by Iida. Manga Artist OH!Great (Tenjho Tenge, Aire Gear) provides the original character designs. An acclaimed CG studio SHIROGUMI (Shin Godzilla, revisions) works on anime production.
