#New Digimon Adventure 02 Movie, Digimon Ghost Game Series Announced

The Digimon franchise is getting two new anime. One of them is Digimon Ghost Game, a TV series that will premiere this fall on Fuji TV and other channels. The other is a new Digimon Adventure 02 movie, which sees Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna‘s Tomohisa Taguchi (director) and Akatsuki Yamatoya (scriptwriter) reuniting for the project. 

The visual for Digimon Ghost Game has the tagline, “Hologram…? Ghost…?” Meanwhile, the Digimon Adventure 02 movie’s visual has the words, “Now, the gate to adventure opens,” as well as the line, “I’m the first human in the world to partner with a Digimon.”  

The story of the Digimon Adventure 02 movie will revolve around the 02 series’ protagonist Daisuke Motomiya (Davis Motomiya in the English version) and its other characters. Comic Natalie quoted producer Yōsuke Kinoshita as saying that Daisuke and co. had a different type of charm than the first Digimon Adventure‘s cast. 

Digimon Adventure 02 ran for 50 episodes from April 2000 to March 2001 with Hiroyuki Kakudō as series director and Atsushi Maekawa and Genki Yoshimura as series composers. A Digimon Adventure 02 movie with two parts (Part 1 Digimon Hurricane Touchdown!! and Part 2 Supreme Evoluton!! The Golden Digimentals) was released in July 2000 with Shigeyasu Yamauchi as director and Reiko Yoshida as scriptwriter. 

The last Digimon movie was 2020’s Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, which focused on the first Digimon Adventure‘s cast but also featured appearances from Daisuke and other 02 characters.
