“Netflix Asia Reveals Streaming Dates for Fullmetal Alchemist The Revenge of Scar and The Final Alchemy”

The Netflix Asia YouTube channel revealed with a subtitled trailer last week that the last two Fullmetal Alchemist live-action movies, The Revenge of Scar and The Final Alchemy, will begin streaming on August 20 and September 24 respectively.

The films are described as:

The final battle for the future has begun. The legend concludes with these two films, forming a “complete version” telling the story up until the end of the original manga. Ed and Al visit Central, where a serial murderer is targeting State Alchemists. While the identity of the criminal is unknown, he is called “Scar” because of the X-shaped scar on his forehead. When the brothers are targeted as well, they fight Scar. In the face of overwhelming strength, Ed’s Automail is destroyed and their lives hang by a thread. Will the brothers be able to overcome this crisis and restore Al’s original body? Hidden state secrets, the “Promised Day,” and the past of Ed and Al’s father — layers upon layers of mysteries and truths come unraveled as this story heads to an epic finale. What is the final answer the brothers give…?

The Final Alchemy premiered in Japan on June 24, while The Revenge of Scar premiered on May 20. The two films are sequels to 2017’s Fullmetal Alchemist live-action film and together serve as “The Final Chapter (Kanketsuhen).”  All three are directed by Fumihiko Sori and written by Sori and Takeshi Miyamoto.

The cast of The Revenge of Scar and The Final Alchemy includes Ryousuke Yamada as Edward Elric, Mackenyu as Scar, Tsubasa Honda as Winry Rockwell, Dean Fujioka as Roy Mustang, Misako Renbutsu as Lisa Hawkeye, Kanata Hongou as Envy, Yuina Kuroshima as Lan Fan, Keisuke Watanabe as Ling Yao/Greed, Yuuki Yamada as Solf J. Kimblee, Hiroshi Tachi as King Bradley, Kouji Yamamoto as Alex Louis Armstrong, Chiaki Kuriyama as Olivia Mira Armstrong, Ryuuta Satou as Maes Hughes, and Seiyou Uchino as both Van Hohenheim and Father.

The Fullmetal Alchemist manga by Hiromu Arakawa ran from 2001 to 2010 and was first published by Enix, and later Square Enix. It was serialized in Monthly Shonen Gangan and published under the Gangan Comics label. The manga has inspired two anime series, two anime movies, various video games, and more.
