#Knicks trade Ed Davis to Timberwolves for Omari Spellman, Jacob Evans and pick

The Knicks continued to use veteran journeyman Ed Davis to gather assets.

Acquired for two second-round picks last week from Utah, Davis’ $5 million pact was shipped to Minnesota for a future second-round pick, sweet-shooting big man Omari Spellman and Jacob Evans.

That gives the Knicks 16 players for 15 roster spots, so one of the two will likely be cut. Spellman, formerly of Villanova, figures to be the keeper. He played 49 games for Golden State last season after playing his rookie year for Atlanta.

The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 7.6 points for Golden State and shot 39.1 percent from 3-point range. Evans, who played at Cincinnati, appeared in two games for the Timberwolves last season.

The Knicks have accumulated four future second-round picks since draft night. Transactions involving Davis have accounted for three.
