#NBA mock drafts show how unpredictable this Knicks pick will be

The only consensus is there isn’t one. Considering how unpredictable this NBA Draft is expected to me, that should hardly come as a surprise.

Five of the most prominent mock drafts had five different players – two point guards, a power forward, a combo forward and a wing — landing with the Knicks.

CBS Sports mocked new team president Leon Rose taking Iowa State point guard Tyrese Haliburton and Yahoo Sports predicted Killian Hayes, another point guard from France. ESPN has the Knicks taking intriguing Auburn forward Isaac Okoro, while Bleacher Report picked Florida State shooting guard/small forward Devin Vassell and The Athletic selected National Player of the Year Obi Toppin, a 6-foot-9 forward from Dayton. The Post mocked Memphis combo forward Precious Achiuwa of The Bronx to the Knicks.

Haliburton and Hayes make the most sense, since the Knicks are in desperate need of a point guard, though Okoro and Vassell are considered potential elite defenders at the next level, which would be in new coach Tom Thibodeau’s wheelhouse. Toppin isn’t expected to fall to the Knicks, but if the Ossining, N.Y. native did, it would be a no-brainer.

Expect to see a myriad of names in the next two months. The draft, currently scheduled for Oct. 16, will be unlike any in recent memory for a variety of reasons. First of all, it will be held during a pandemic, which could end up making it a virtual event like the NFL Draft. Unlike the NFL, though, there may not be a combine and it is uncertain if teams will be able to have any in-person workouts, which could lead to chaos on draft night and plenty of swings and misses.
