#Nationals players vote against playing Marlins in Miami this weekend

The latest twist in the Miami Marlins coronavirus crisis could further imperil MLB’s schedule.

The Post’s Joel Sherman confirms that a majority of Washington Nationals players voted against traveling to Miami to play a scheduled three-game series this weekend as the Marlins deal with a coronavirus outbreak within their team. The Nationals are waiting on MLB’s response to the team’s request to not play there. Sherman reports the vote was more of a suggestion than a demand, and that the team may still play if the games remain in Miami as scheduled.

The Marlins’ coronavirus problems worsened Tuesday as four more players tested positive for the virus. Fifteen players — half of their active roster — along with two coaches have tested positive for COVID-19.

Sunday’s Marlins-Phillies game in Philadelphia was played despite four Marlins players testing positive before that game. As a result, the Yankees’ two scheduled games in Philadelphia Monday and Tuesday were postponed, as were the Marlins’ two home games against the Orioles with the Marlins remaining in Philadelphia.
