The upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie has received its first full trailer, which offers a look at the film’s premise and action scenes. Also previewed is the theme song by King Gnu.
The movie is set to premiere in Japan on December 24.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is based on the manga by Gege Akutami, which was first serialized in Jump GIGA in 2017 for four volumes under a different title and later published as a single volume manga in November 2018. It is a prequel to Akutami’s main Jujutsu Kaisenseries, which began in March 2018 and received an anime adaptation in 2020.
Yuta Okkotsu is a nervous high school student who is suffering from a serious problem—his childhood friend Rika has turned into a Curse and won’t leave him alone. Since Rika is no ordinary Curse, his plight is noticed by Satoru Gojo, a teacher at Jujutsu High, a school where fledgling exorcists learn how to combat Curses. Gojo convinces Yuta to enroll, but can he learn enough in time to confront the Curse that haunts him?
The staff includes Sunghoo Park as director, Hiroshi Seko as scriptwriter, Tadashi Hiramatsu as character designer, and Yui Umemoto as assistant director. All four had previously worked on the Jujutsu Kaisen series. MAPPA is the animation production company.
Meanwhile, the cast includes Megumi Ogata as Yuuta, Mikako Komatsu as Maki, Kouki Uchiyama as Toge, Tomokazu Seki as Panda, Yuuichi Nakamura as Satoru, and Takahiro Sakurai as Suguru Geto.
