This is what the movie is about:

A heartwarming story about two girls and a mystical being: Mei and Satsuki’s mother is seriously ill in a rural hospital. So her father decides to move to the country with the children to be closer to her. The two girls are not particularly enthusiastic about the new home at first. But during one of their exploration tours through the forest, they meet the nature spirit Totoro, who from now on leads them on a magical journey.
