#The Elusive Samurai Releases Latest Character Visual & PV Trailer for Fubuki

A new character visual and PV trailer have been released for The Elusive Samurai TV anime series, highlighting the strategist swordsman Fubuki. The anime will premiere sometime later in 2024.

Yuuta Yamazaki (Wonder Egg Priority assistant director) is serving as director for the series, with Yuusuke Kawakami (Bocchi the Rock! live performance director) as assistant director, Yasushi Nishiya (Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle sub-character designer) as character designer and chief animation director, Yoriko Tomita (My Dress-Up Darling) as series screenwriter, and Gembi and Akiyuki Tateyama (Yuru Camp) as music composers. CloverWorks is in charge of the animation production for the anime. 

Meanwhile, the main voice cast includes: 

  • • Asaki Yuikawa as Hojo 
  • • Hinaki Yano as Shizuku
  • • Mari Hino as Kojirou
  • • Sayumi Suzushiro as Ayako
  • • Aoi Yuuki as Genba Kazama
  • • Kikunosuke Toya as Fubuki
  • • Yuuichi Nakamura as Suwa Yorishige

The anime is based on the historical samurai manga by Yuusei Matsui, which began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in January 25, 2021. Fourteen tankoubon volumes have been released as of February 2024, with a 15th volume due out in April 2024. Viz Media releases the manga in English.

Elusive Samurai is available to read in English on MANGA Plus, which describes the synopsis as:

Set in feudal Japan in between the Kamakura and Muromachi periods, our hero Hojo Tokiyuki is a boy on the run that history all but forgot! When the Kamakura shogunate is overthrown by Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki’s family and standing are viciously taken away from him, and he must flee to the far reaches of the land to survive and seek out his revenge!
