#Muhammad Wilkerson’s older brother charged with murder

The older brother of former New York Jet Muhammad Wilkerson was reportedly charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old man in New Jersey Saturday night.

Hafeez Brown, 33, is accused of shooting and striking Roobino Philemon as the man sat in the driver’s seat of a car outside a house in Bridgewater Township, NJ.com reported, citing the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

Before he was fatally shot, Philemon had tried to join a birthday party at a home on Bayberry Street in Bridgewater, but was told to leave, authorities said.

A “substantial” amount of marijuana and two guns were found by authorities at the home hosting the gathering, the report said.

Linden Mayor Derek Armstead on Monday revealed Brown’s relation to Wilkerson, who was drafted by the Jets as a first-rounder in 2011.

Wilkerson, of Linden, signed a five-year, $86 million contract with the Jets in 2016, only to be released two years later after earning $37 million.

He signed with Green Bay prior to the 2018 season after seven years with the Jets. He only played in three games, however, before a season-ending ankle injury. He remains a free agent.

Since last June, Wilkerson has twice been arrested twice for driving while intoxicated.
