Regency is All the Rage

The high society of Regency-era London has enjoyed renewed popularity in the past couple of years, largely thanks to Netflix’s Bridgerton. Based on novels by Julia Quinn and produced by Shonda Rhimes, the period drama following the romantic pursuits of the privileged Bridgerton children quickly became one of the streaming service’s top English-language shows—Variety reports that the show’s first season racked up 625.49 million hours viewed in its first 28 days on the platform.

Autumn de Wilde’s Emma also takes place during the Regency era. A 2020 adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel of the same name, the film follows Emma Woodhouse (Anya Taylor-Joy), an independent, wealthy young woman with a penchant for matchmaking. The cast also includes Mia Goth (X) and Josh O’Connor (The Crown).

Whether this is your first foray into high society or you’re a seasoned Regency fan, Mr. Malcolm’s List is sure to make you swoon.
