Morgan Wallen has been suspended indefinitely by his label Big Loud Records after video emerged showing the country star using a racist, anti-Black slur. On Tuesday night, February 2, TMZ posted a video of Wallen using a racist slur. TMZ also shared a statement from Wallen, who said, “I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”

Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for Morgan Wallen for further comment.

After the video emerged, CMT pledged to remove Wallen’s appearances from its platforms. In addition, according to Variety, Cumulus Media sent a message to over 400 radio stations, directing them to remove Wallen’s music from their playlists.

Morgan Wallen released Dangerous: The Double Album in January, a little more than one month after performing on Saturday Night Live. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, setting the record for the biggest streaming week for a country album.
