#Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- Leads Japanese Weekend Box Office With Colorful Stage! in 2nd Place

The Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- theatrical re-edit was the most popular movie in Japan over the weekend (January 17 to 19 JST), drawing 352,500 moviegoers and earning 599 million yen (~US$3.85 million).

In second place was Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing, which had 232,500 moviegoers and a gross of 370 million yen (~US$2.38 million). Both Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- — which features some of the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX series’ episodes — and Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing premiered on January 17 JST.

Another anime movie that placed in the top 10 was Gekijouban Nintama Rantaro: Dokutake Ninjatai Saikyou no Gunshi, which came in at sixth place. The film premiered on December 20, 2024 JST.

Meanwhile, the live-action Cells At Work! movie came in fourth. It debuted on December 13, 2024 JST.
