#MLB stars pressure owners with ‘tell us when and where’ campaign

It may be orchestrated. It could be social media momentum. Or, possibly, it is simply players expressing their desire to get back on the field.

Whatever the case may be, several of baseball’s big names have taken to Twitter with a simple message: “Tell us when and where.”

From Mike Trout to Pete Alonso, Blake Snell to Bryce Harper, Gary Sanchez and Gerrit Cole, they’ve all tweeted the same five words a day after baseball commissioner Rob Manfred said there’s a possibility there won’t be a season this year due to the ongoing labor strife between the owners and players. Last week, Manfred said he was 100 percent sure there would be a season of some sort, but he backtracked on Monday, as the two sides remain far apart about how long of a season should be played and what percentage of their salaries players should receive.

Other players expressed a similar sentiment on Twitter as the aforementioned stars, though with different wording. Rhys Hoskins tweeted: “Tell us when and where. We’re ready! We’ve been ready!” with the hashtag “Let the Kids Play.”

Trout, the three-time MVP, started the tweet storm by quote-tweeting the MLBPA statement from Monday night, and it only increased from there. It was the first tweet since May for the usually reserved star. The statement included a quote from union head Tony Clark that read, “It’s time to get back to work. Tell us when and where.”
