#Mitsuru Adachi’s Sci-fi Jidaigeki Manga Niji-iro Tohgarashi Gets Stage Play This Summer

A stage play adaptation of acclaimed manga artist Mitsuru Adachi (Touch, MIX)’s sci-fi action jidaigeki series Niji-iro Tohgarashi (literally means Rainbow-colored Pepper) is set to be performed at the Owlspot theater in Tokyo from August 28 to September 5, 2021.

The manga, whose story was set on a planet very similar to Earth in the future, was originally serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1990 to 1992, then compiled in 11 tankobon volumes. Its genre was unusual for the author, who had specialized in romantic comedy sports manga.

Shinya Sato (the leader of the theater company Analog Switch) serves as director on a script by Wakata Torisumi. The protagonist Shichimi is played by Ryoki Nagae (Italy in the Hetalia musicals), alongside Anju Inami (Chika Takami in Love Live! Sunshine!!, Aqours member) as the main heroine Natane. Following the advance sales between May 12 and June 23, general sales of the tickets will begin on July 10.
