#Miley Cyrus covers ‘Heart of Glass’ and even Blondie approves

Whatever Smilers want, Smilers get.

Smilers — as Miley Cyrus’ hardcore fans are called — got their wish when their queen’s cover of the Blondie classic “Heart of Glass,” performed live at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Sept. 19, was released to stream and download Wednesday.

Cyrus, 27, brings plenty of bratty attitude — with a vocal that is more of a punky snarl and less of a sexy coo than Debbie Harry’s original — to a rendition that cranks up the guitars on the disco-meets-new-wave hit that went No. 1 in 1979.

Getting the ultimate co-sign, Cyrus’ “Heart of Glass” cover got some love from Harry and Blondie, who called her performance “divine” — taking a cue from the song’s lyrics — on Twitter.

Clearly, Cyrus worships ’70s rock goddesses: She channels Stevie Nicks on her latest single “Midnight Sky,” which she also performed at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

The “Wrecking Ball” singer also performed “Midnight Sky” at last month’s MTV Video Music Awards. The song is the first single from her upcoming album, “She Is Miley Cyrus.”

No doubt, Cyrus has become quite the cover girl. Previously, she has covered such classics as Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here,” Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide,” Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” and even Roberta Flack’s “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.”

But she’s covered some 21st-century tunes too, including Coldplay’s “The Scientist,” Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness” and Billie Eilish’s “My Future.”
