Citing a number of factors such as cost, mixed reviews, and a precipitous drop-off in viewership numbers after its second week on the streaming platform, the live-action reimagining based on the classic, genre-blending Sunrise science fiction TV anime from 1998 will not be returning for a second season.
The live-action Cowboy Bebop series was developed by Christopher Yost. It stars John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, and Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, and it also features André Nemec as showrunner with music by Yoko Kanno and creative consulting by Shinichiro Watanabe. The series is currently available via streaming on Netflix.
