#Mick Mulvaney said it’s ‘inconceivable’ John Kelly shoved Ivanka

CNN’s Chris Wallace said that former Trump aide Mick Mulvaney doesn’t believe bombshell claims made by Jared Kushner in his new book, including one which accused John Kelly of “shoving” his daughter, Ivanka Trump.

According to Wallace, Mulvaney also denied that Kushner ever mentioned having thyroid cancer diagnosis to him.

Wallace made the comments about his green room conversation with Mulvaney — Donald Trump’s acting Chief of Staff from January 2019 to March 2020 — during an appearance on CNN’s “New Day” on Friday morning.

“We all know that oftentimes the conversation in the green room is more interesting than what’s said on the air, the green room where we wait before we come on the air,” Wallace told “New Day” co-hosts Brianna Keilar and John Berman.

“I was talking with Mick Mulvaney, Jared Kushner’s new book came out in which he says that John Kelly…the predecessor for him as White House Chief of Staff, shoved Ivanka out of the way.”

“He said that is inconceivable,” Wallace continued.

“Could he have brushed by her? Yeah. Inconceivable that John Kelly, White House Chief of Staff, would have shoved Ivanka.”

“He also said — in the book Kushner claims that he told Mulvaney that he had thyroid cancer.”

Wallace added: “Mulvaney said ‘He never told me that. I have no recollection of it. And if he had, I would have remembered it’.”

According to excerpts of the memoir obtained by The Washington Post, Kushner, the real estate scion and Trump’s son-in-law, writes that Kelly was in a fit of “rage” when he “shoved” Ivanka Trump after a heated Oval Office meeting. “One day he had just marched out of a contentious meeting in the Oval Office,” Kushner, 41, wrote in “Breaking History: A White House Memoir.”

“Ivanka was walking down the main hallway of the West Wing when she passed him. Unaware of his heated state of mind, she said, ‘Hello, chief.’”

“Kelly shoved her out of the way and stormed by,” Kushner’s account continued.

“She wasn’t hurt, and didn’t make a big deal about the altercation, but in his rage Kelly had shown his true character.”

Kushner, who served as a senior adviser to his father-in-law, also writes that Kelly later offered up a “meek apology” to his wife during a visit to her West Wing office on the second floor of the White House. Trump’s daughter was also a senior adviser.

Kelly, 72, vehemently denied the claim, writing in an email to The Washington Post: “It is inconceivable that I would EVER shove a woman.”

“Inconceivable. Never happen. Would never intentionally do something like that. Also, don’t remember ever apologizing to her for something I didn’t do. I’d remember that.”

Kushner also writes that he underwent surgery to treat thyroid cancer in 2019. He tried to keep his condition a secret from his father-in-law, but was unable to do so, according to the book.

The memoir, which is published by Broadside Books, is scheduled to go on sale on Aug. 23.
