#Netflix confirms Lucifer Season 5A release date after leak

The first eight episodes of Lucifer Season 5 will drop in August 2020

Never underestimate Lucifans! Many rewatch the show religiously (pun totally intended), which means they spot when Netflix adds the release date for the next season. It wasn’t surprising that the Lucifer Season 5A release date was quickly shared by fans when they spotted it.

That happened on June 21. Nerds and Beyond quickly shared the date with a screenshot of their Netflix screens. It stated clearly that Part 1 on the fifth season would drop on August 21, 2020.

It took until June 22 for Netflix to officially confirm the release. It would be interesting to know if Netflix was planning on releasing this today or had no choice after the date was leaked.

We’re getting eight episodes of the season

Don’t expect the full drop of Lucifer Season 5. As expected when we heard that Season 5 would be 16 episodes long, the season is coming in two parts. This allows for a selection of episodes to keep fans entertained while the show continues to film the rest of the episodes.

Of course, Lucifer is among the list of shows that have shut down production due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, some areas are starting to open up, which could allow filming to happen again.

According to Deadline, The Witcher Season 2 production will restart in August. The show films in the UK, which has allowed some production to open up ahead of the rest of the world. However, Lucifer could follow suit soon.

For now, at least we have a release date for some episodes.

Netflix did release a video with the confirmation of the date. It doesn’t give us a look at what’s to come, but instead offers 66.6 seconds worth of our favorite Devil.

The last we left our devilishly charming private detective, he had returned to Hell to rule in a way to protect Amenadiel and Linda’s son. This was just after he and Chloe had confessed their love for each other.
