#Mets vs. Braves: Take Atlanta, Mike Soroka as deGrom can’t do it all

Two of the MLB’s best pitchers will face each other in Atlanta on Monday as Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets will go against Mike Soroka of the Braves.

These two squared off just 10 days ago on Opening Day in what was a 1-0 Mets win with neither starter surrendering a run.

Both have had success in this divisional rivalry as Soroka has faced the Mets six times since 2018 with a 4-0 record and a 2.27 ERA. DeGrom has been even better in terms of ERA with a 1.90 in 22 starts against the Braves, but has just a 7-7 record to show for it thanks to a lack of run support and a poor bullpen.

In five games against the Braves this season, the Mets entered Sunday averaging 3.2 runs per game despite a 10-run outburst on Friday. Atlanta entered Sunday tied for the MLB lead with 53 runs scored overall (5.89 per game).

The Mets had the majors’ third-worst bullpen ERA entering Sunday. It’s no wonder deGrom has a 21-17 record since the start of the 2018 season despite winning back-to-back Cy Youngs. Despite deGrom’s dominance, the players around Soroka should propel the Braves to victory.

THE PLAY: Braves, 115.
