“#Mets target Adam Frazier traded to Padres”
The Mets will have to look elsewhere for a trade-deadline splash.
All-Star Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman Adam Frazier, who the Mets had some interest in, is being traded to the San Diego Padres, according to multiple reports.
Prospects Tucupita Marcano (infielder), Jack Suwinski (outfielder) and pitcher Michell Miliano would head to San Diego, according to The Athletic. The Pirates will also send about $1.4 million in cash to the Padres to bring down the money owed Frazier.

The 29-year-old Frazier leads all of baseball in hits and will not be eligible for free agency until after next season. If the Mets had acquired Frazier, it likely would have meant a move to third base for Jeff McNeil. Frazier brings some versatility as he also plays the outfield and the Padres intend to use him in a super-utlity role, The Athleric reported.
The Padres currently trail the Giants by 5 ½ games in the NL West and have a 5 ½-game lead over the Reds for the second NL wild card.
