The Mets signed former Yankee Melky Cabrera on Monday, and the 35-year-old outfielder is expected to be part of the team’s 60-player pool when spring training restarts this week.

Cabrera, who played four full seasons for the Yankees and was a part of their 2009 World Series team, most recently played for the Pirates.

The Mets also added another right-handed arm to their bullpen on Monday, signing Hunter Strickland, who was released by Washington in March.

The 31-year-old pitched effectively for the Giants before he signed with the Mariners as a free agent prior to last season. He struggled throughout 2019 with Seattle and the Nationals, finishing with a 5.55 ERA over 28 appearances between the two teams after a July trade to Washington. Strickland also pitched poorly in the NLDS with the Nationals, allowing four runs over two innings in a pair of appearances.

The team also announced it had re-signed outfielder Ryan Cordell, who spent spring training with the Mets. Cordell, 28, had seven homers in 247 plate appearances with the White Sox last year. The Mets also re-signed RHP Erasmo Ramirez and added infielder Gordon Beckham.
