“New Pokémon Series To Have 1-Hour Premiere, Trailer and Cast Revealed”
The upcoming new Pokémon anime series will premiere in Japan on April 14 with a one-hour special. A trailer and main visual for the show have been released.
Additionally, Minori Suzuki and Yuka Terasaki were revealed as the voices of protagonists Liko and Roy, respectively. Meanwhile, Taku Yashiro will voice their companion, Pokémon Professor Friede, who was revealed last month with his Pokémon partner, Captain Pikachu. Ikue Ootani is voicing Captain Pikachu.
Main staff details for the show were released as well. Directing the new Pokémon anime is Saori Den (Pokemon: Kami to Yobareshi Arceus opening storyboarder; Pokémon Journeys: The Series 2nd opening, episode director and storyboarder). Other staff include:
• Daiki Tomiyasu (Pokémon Journeys: The Series chief director) as creative director
• Tetsuo Yajima (Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle director, Summer Time Rendering Episode 15 storyboarder and director) as action director
• Dai Satou (Yurei Deco) as series composer
• Rei Yamazaki (Pokémon Journeys: The Series co-Pokémon designer) as character designer
• Kyouko Itou (Pokémon Journeys: The Series animation director) as sub-character designer
• Conisch (Pokémon: Hisuian Snow) as music composer

The new Pokémon series will follow the adventures of Liko (from the Paldea region), Roy (from the Kanto region), and Friede “across the Pokémon world while unraveling the mysteries of Liko’s pendant and Roy’s Poké Ball.”
The show will feature Paldea starter Pokémon Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.
The new anime was announced after original Pokémon protagonist Ash Ketchum/Satoshi became World Champion last November in Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series. Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series premiered in December 2021, over two decades after the first Pokémon series began airing in April 1997.
An 11-episode series titled Pokémon: Mezame Pokémon Master, described as “the final chapter in Ash and Pikachu’s story,” premiered in Japan on January 13, 2023.
