#Three people shot, one gravely injured, in The Bronx

Three people were shot in the Bronx on Monday evening, leaving at least one in grave condition, police said.

Gunfire erupted around 6 p.m. in front of a building on East 157th Street between Elton Ave. and Melrose Ave. in the South Bronx, cops said.

A 25-year-old was shot twice in the chest and was in grave condition.

The other victims included a 21-year-old hit in the leg and a 28-year-old struck in the hip.

All three were taken to Lincoln Medical Center.

No other information was immediately available.

The incidents came after two men were shot — one fatally — on Sunday, one at around 8 p.m. in Staten Island and the other about 40 minutes earlier in Brooklyn.

No additional gun violence had been reported until Monday evening.

As of Sunday, 1,635 people had been shot in 1,331 incidents across the city so far this year.

Victims have more than doubled — and incidents are nearing that mark — compared to the 2019 total.
