#Marlins Man is in baseball hell

With the coronavirus pandemic keeping fans out of MLB ballparks, Marlins Man has been forced to become Marlins Cutout.

Lawrence Leavy, a lawyer from Miami, has been dubbed “Marlins Man” in recent years. He has become a fixture in ballparks across the country, donning an orange Marlins jersey and visor and sitting behind home plate wherever he goes.

“I miss being at the game,” Leavy told The Action Network.

Without fans, however, Leavy has audibled to a new approach.

Teams around the league have allowed fans to purchase cutouts of themselves to fill the empty seats. Marlins Man offered to buy a cutout with every team to be placed in his usual spot.

“I wasn’t going to do it,” Leavy told the website. “But I’ve literally had hundreds of people reach out to me asking where I am.”

Leavy offered to pay up to $1,000 – significantly more than the going rate for cutouts – to have his likeness at ballparks. The Athletics and Royals have already agreed to the offer, while the Reds and Indians have already told him no, according to the report.

Even if he purchases cutouts around the country, Marlins Man will be saving significant money without his exorbitant ticket purchases.

“I bought a Ferrari and I added 15 more racehorses,” Leavy said. “But it doesn’t replace baseball. So, I added a Ferrari to my Bentley and my Mercedes and I added 15 more racehorses to bring my total to 80.”

The 63-year-old Leavy works for a law firm specializing in worker’s compensation cases. During normal seasons, he attends up to 28 games across the country every month.

“I want to add, I was asked what have I been doing with my time and money not spent on tickets and gave truthful. accurate answer I also said its not about me on TV (sic),” Leavy tweeted Tuesday. “Its (sic) about going to packed stadium with fans and electric atmosphere, unlike Miami teams.”
