#Marc-Andre Fleury has agent delete shocking Peter DeBoer backstabbing picture

Marc-Andre Fleury appreciated the support, but he asked his agent to take down his controversial Twitter post anyway.

His goal, he told reporters, is to win, even if it means he’s not on the ice, and so his agent, Allan Walsh, deleted the picture he posted of his client with a sword in his back. The sword had “DeBoer,” the last name of Vegas Golden Knights coach Pete DeBoer, written on it, a reference to Fleury losing his starting goaltending job.

“Regarding that picture that came up, I just wanted to say that Allan has been my agent for a long time,” Fleury told reporters on Sunday. “I’ve known him since I was 15. We’ve always been close. We always talk about hockey or other things in life also. I think he’s a guy that always protects or cares a lot about his players, and he does about me also. I really appreciate his passion for the game. I think it was maybe a way to defend me in that situation for not playing much, but I’m here to win with my team and to have success.”

Fleury, 35, did not answer whether he knew Walsh was going to post the picture.

Walsh wasn’t happy that his Fleury has lost his job to Robin Lehner and will not start the opener of the Stanley Cup playoff series against the Canucks Sunday night. Fleury, who led Vegas to the 2018 Stanley Cup Final in the franchise’s inaugural season, had his lowest save percentage (.905) since 2009-10 while a member of the Penguins, and lost his father in November. Lehner, acquired in February from the Blackhawks, has outplayed him in the postseason and started four of the five games in the first-round series against Chicago.

“Bottom line is we all want to win,” said Fleury, who met with DeBoer and general manager Kelly McCrimmon on Saturday to clear the air. “That’s why we’re here. I don’t like being a distraction for my team.”
