A man wanted in connection in the death of his elderly mother was fired from the NYPD more than a decade ago, The Post has learned.

Osvaldo Diaz’s mother, Maria, was found dead in her second-floor apartment above a deli on Hillside Avenue in Jamaica Wednesday evening, cops said.

The 78-year-old woman had a gash on her head and, sources told The Post, a machete was found inside her home, She was pronounced dead at the scene, cops said.

A spokeswoman from the NYPD confirmed Diaz was hired in July 2005 and fired in January of 2008.
