A German livestreamer is revolting the internet with a troubling health regimen that involves ingesting seven pints of his own urine per day.

“It is the body’s own vaccination,” Hamburg’s Jan Schünemann, 26, told the Daily Mail.

Schünemann claimed that drinking his urine can ward off illnesses and mitigate depression. The sports coach and student then streams his ill-advised ritual on Instagram and YouTube in the hopes that others will follow suit. He also applies pee to his skin, eyes and even his ears — via syringe.

The alternative medicine practitioner claims that his liquid diet wards off sickness, and imbues him with enough energy to where he only requires between four and seven hours of sleep a night. Not only that but the only time the pee proponent falls ill is reportedly from junk food, which he claims is normal for everyone.

“I have a better quality of life since doing this,” said Schünemann, who stresses that urine has “everything the body needs.” Currently, experts advise against imbibing pee — a practice known as urotherapy — as it can introduce bacteria and other harmful substances into the bloodstream as well as damage the kidneys, reported Healthline.

Schünemann says he first “discovered Shivambu Kalpa [a concept of “urine therapy” said to have originated in India] through the internet and was very open-minded about it” having suffered from depression.

And after trying the wastewater treatment once, Schünemann knew he had to continue due to the massive mental improvements he experienced.

Schünemann said the practice held particular appeal due to its availability. “It’s very natural and accessible for every human being,” he added.

However, despite reportedly improving his quality of life, the diuretic devotee admits that “it is all about balance.”

“I have to remind myself that I still live in this society,” said Schünemann, whose girlfriend has yet to comment publicly on his pastime.

Nonetheless, he said that “it doesn’t matter what anybody else says or thinks because you are only here for your own experience anyway.”

Schünemann isn’t the only subscriber to urine therapy. A Facebook group made headlines after claiming drinking one’s own wee “eliminates illness” and encouraging people to wash their feet in it. Meanwhile, a Maryland painter even likened the taste to coconut water.
