#Man dragged, killed after laying down on NYC street: cops

A man was killed when he lay down in the middle of an Upper West Side street and was dragged across the roadway by an oncoming car late Sunday, according to police.

The 28-year-old driver of a 1998 Lexus sedan was heading north on Central Park West, between West 62nd and 63rd streets in the left lane when the pedestrian walked into the roadway a few minutes before midnight and lay down in his path, cops said.

The driver ran over the pedestrian — dragging him for a distance while he was lodged under the left front wheel well, authorities said.

At some point, the victim was freed from under the car and the driver stopped, police said.

Authorities found the man lying in the street, unconscious and unresponsive, with trauma to his head and body.

EMS workers pronounced him dead on scene.
